Elizabeth Mease Barclay, 1773-1832, went to France with her parents in 1781, returned to Philadelphia in 1788, moved to Virginia with her mother in 1791, when her father went abroad on another diplomatic mission, married Peyton Randolph Harrison of the James River Harrisons in 1795, moved to Kentucky in 1809, suffered 17 pregnancies and bore nine children, of whom two survived her. She died in Russellville, Logan County, Kentucky in 1832. Sixty of her letters written between the years 1800 and 1831 are in the Virginia Historical Society in the Papers of the Harrison Family (Mssl/H248/c) and four letters written between the years 1808-1829 are in the Bethany College Archives (Dr. James Barclay Donaldson bequest), Bethany, West Virginia.261
