“Salisbury (West. Co.), April 6 - A daughter of late Jacob JONES, Pollett River, age 16, was drowned in the Petitcodiac River Monday afternoon. She started in a hurry from home to go the Pollet River railway crossing on an errand for her brother and not returning as expected, the family became alarmed and went in search of her. They traced her by her tracks in the snow, where in crossing the river near William HOPE's on the ice which being unsound had broken away. She had sunk under it and perished entirely alone. Her remains have not yet been recovered as the ice for miles below is still unbroken.”51
