The community is called upon to mourn the passing of another prominent citizen Mr. Amos O'Blenis, retired superintendent of Moncton City Schools, who passed away at the family residence, 49 Dufferin Street, last evening [5 Sept 1935]. He had been ill for several months and although death was not unexpected yet his passing will be learned with sincere regret by many friends.
Born in Salisbury seventy-four years ago (b. abt 1861] the son of the late John and Mary (Cochrane) O'Blenis, the deceased entered the teaching profession after graduating with honors from the Provincial Normal School at Fredericton. He was later appointed superintendent of the schools and held that position until his retirement in 1925.
A man of unquestionable integrity and ability, the deceased was prominent in the educational life of the province.
