Obituaries notes for Matilda Jones
“Mrs. G.B. Lutz
Mrs. G.B. Lutz passed peacefully away at 3.15 o'clock this morning at her house [part hard to read] after a week's illness. The deceased lady was 72 years of age, and had been a resident of Moncton for nearly half a century. Mrs. Lutz was well known and very highly esteemed. She had been for a great many years an active member and worker in the Moncton First Baptist church. She was ever loyal to the church in which she was a devout worshipper, and was a generous contributor to and ardent supporter of every worthy cause. No charitable work appealed to her in vain and her time as well as her means, were fully given to help along the various organizations in the city which had for their object the alleviation of suffering and the betterment of humanity.
The late Mrs. Lutz had a large circle of warm personal friends throughout the city, and her death will be learned with profound regret, not only by her personal friends, but by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance.
Deceased is survived by her husband, 1 son, Mr. A.J. Lutz, and George Lutz, grandson, student at McGill University. The deceased was daughter of the late Solomon Jones, of Steeves Mountain. Mrs. William Jones, of Steeves Mountain, is the only surviving member of Mrs. Lutz's family.
Funeral arrangements will be made later.” [The Moncton Transcript, Wednesday, 3 May 1916, p. 5]
