“Dr. T.V. CRANDALL of Philadelphia has been in town for some days visiting his brother Joseph CRANDALL, Esq. postmaster. He goes to Springfield (Kings Co.) to spend a short time with his father, Rev. David CRANDALL. The latter is upwards of 90 years of age, but quite vigorous.”

“Joseph CRANDALL, the first chairman of the town council under the incorporation of 1875, is the second son of Rev. David CRANDALL of Springfield (Kings Co.) He is one of the oldest residents of Moncton, having commenced business here when 23 years old. There was at that time (1843) but three stores, one dozen dwellings, the church at the north end of Steadman street and a school building, two blacksmith shops and a carpenter's shop. Mr. Crandall was appointed postmaster in 1846 and savings bank agent in 1871.”

“Rev. David CRANDALL, a father of the Baptist denimonation in the Maritime Provinces, died Sunday night at Springfield (Kings Co.) in the 98th year of his age. Joseph CRANDALL, postmaster of Moncton is a son of the deceased. Other children of the deceased are Mrs. J.T. TOOLE, Moncton; Warren CRANDALL and Daniel CRANDALL of Springfield; E.V. CRANDALL and H.V. CRANDALL, New York; Dr. T.V. CRANDALL, Philadelphia and Miss M.A. CRANDALL, New York.”
