“On Monday Oliver JONES received a despatch from Newell, Iowa that his son, George JONES was sick and not expected to recover and on Tuesday a despatch arrived stating that he was dead. His remains are now enroute home. - 'Transcript'”

“The death of George P. JONES s/o O. JONES Esq. of Moncton (West. Co.) which occurred at Newell, Iowa, has already been recorded. The body of the young man reached Moncton Saturday night in charge of G.L. DOBSON of Newell and the funeral took place yesterday afternoon. The funeral servicesat the house were conducted by Rev. Geo. O. Gates, A.M., pastor of the First Moncton Baptist Church. Mr. Dobson is an attorney at Newell and was present with him when he died. It appears that the fatal illness which lasted only four days was obstruction of the bowels, the result of a severe cold contracted while driving across the country from Sac City to Newell. The deceased, who was in his 25th year, left property chiefly in Sac City valued at $6,000 or $7,000 and made a will just before he died. He bequeathed $ 2,000 to his brother, Dr. L.F. JONES, now in Oregon, a balance to be divided between his father, his full sister Emily A. TRITES w/o J.S. TRITES, his three half brothers and youngest half sister. (see original)”
