Notes for Charles Trites
A puzzling family grouping in the 1851 census in Moncton: Charles Trites, age 68, “Dutch” origin and Elizabeth Somers, age 60, “Dutch” origin, are living together with the column which should explain their marital status left blank. Living with them are 3 grown sons Allen 28, Howard 26 and Alfred 24 all appearing as with the last name Somers due to the ditto marks.
84 In the 1881 census Alfred and Howard have the last name Trites.
Apparently Elizabeth is not called “wife” in Charles’ will but is described as “wife of” on her tombstone.
