Obituaries notes for Jacob Trites
From The Times, Jan 30, 1890 in Moncton Westmorland:
“We record the death of Jacob TRITES, an old resident of Salem (Albert Co.) who died at his home yesterday morn. of inflammation of the lungs, resulting from a relapse of influenza. Mr. Trites, though 87 years of age, was always able to attend his duties. He was well known to older residents of Moncton having been born here in May 1803, and at one time owned the land which constitutes the upper end of town which was then a forest. He removed to Lutes Mountain among the first settlers and there most of his large family now reside. From Lutes Mountain deceased removed to Salem. Mr. Trites joined the First Baptist Church of Moncton upwards of 60 years ago and was one of those organizing the Second Baptist Church at Lutes Mountain of which he was a consistent member. The body will be brought from Salem today for interment at Lutes Mountain where other deceased members of the family are buried. He leaves behind him his second wife.”
