Notes for Louise Longfellow Givan
Longfellow was her maternal grandmother’s maiden name (distantly related to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow). She had ten babies but lost three. Her headstone has the year as 1937 which should be 1938 as verified on her obituary.106
Obituaries notes for Louise Longfellow Givan
from the Wareham Courier, Friday, April 15, 1938:
“Mrs. Louise Longfellow Nangle
Mrs. Louise Longfellow Nangle, a resident of Point Independence for the last two years, passed away suddenly at her home Thursday. Death was due to a heart attack, following a lingering illness. She was born in Charlestown 44 years ago, the daughter of Mrs. Eva Givan and the late John Givan. She is survived by her husband, John Nangle; three daughters, Eva and Marion Nangle, and Mrs. Elizabeth Young; three sons, John, James and Richard Nangle; her mother, Mrs. Eva Givan; three sisters, Misses Marion and Emma Givan of Somerville, and Mrs. Nelda [sic] Coombs of Toronto, Canada; two brothers, Hamilton Givan of Somerville and James Givan of Worcester, and several grandchildren.
The services will be held Sunday at Everett, and interment will be in the family lot at Woodlawn cemetery, Everett.”106
