“Our Church and community has been saddened by the passing of William E. Payson on Saturday, February 23. As a former usher, deacon, member of the Prudential Committee, Past President of the Brotherhood, and as “Mr. Reservation Chairman” of countless dinners and entertainments over the years since 1928, when he became a member of our Church, none has been more loyal or faithful than Bill. Hardly a week went by in the past few years that he did not run the addressograph for the Reporter mailing. His willingness to be of assistance in many volunteer projects was a constant shining example of his devotion to people and good causes. As Treasurer of the Medford Home for the Aged he was meticulous, and concerned for the welfare of each individual. He took great pride in his garden and his ability to care for it himself. In fact, “enforced idleness” was the bane of Bill’s existence! We express to Edna, his wife, our comfort and concern in her and our bereavement.”
